While travelling back and out of Kolkata thru the airport, I wonder to imagine a somewhat Bangalore like or Hyderabad or Mumbai (new domestic) terminal like building, shining wide and smooth - without steps, with adequate aids for the handicaps, without loss of direction, without any second thought for help for anything that may come to mind....
but when it will take shape? how long we have to wait for at least a new look and feel Kolkata Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Airport....???!!!! I personally doubt, if any of the 33 crore Gods also knows the final date..! Or again a lady of soil/ son of the soil will delay the symbols of progress to see the daylight / postpone the development of basic infrastructure for smaller benefits ...
Being a person involved in infrastructure development, I understand the implication of the large scale infra when it gets implemented and what kind of benefits it bring for people...!
Anyhow... jug jug jioh bengalis... with Durgapuja, Rosogolla, Chomchom, Dhuti-Panjabi, Kandhe(shoulder) bag, cigerate 'khaoa', beshi beshi dari (long beard) etc etc... and what not...!
Perhaps Netaji, if he is alive today, will not like to return to Kolkata/ Bengal seeing the present day condition...!
Ending with apology to put my own personal thinking in a wrong topic... this is not to hurt anybody in particular, but to (perhaps) increase self-consciousness of a fast evaporating race called 'Bangali' as it was best known since last 400-500 years till last 20-30 years ago.Private Reply to Jaydeep Roy (new win) |
